I realized that I have not been on this blog in 6 years so I decided to update it. To be honest, Homer has hardly changed at all since then.

There has been no change to any of the elementary schools since my last post 6 years ago. However, the city of Hartford did purchase the gym portion of the building and uses it for certain community events.

Homer also has some important more ancient history. The town is home to the Dixon Mound of the Adena culture. The mound is located next to the intersection of Homer Road and South Street, directly east of the library. More information can be found here:

If you are looking for a snack on the way through, Homer also has been home to the Homer Village Market on the southeast corner of the intersection of Homer Road and state route 661. Here is their website:

This will probably be my last post for another 6 years unless something major changes. Cheers.

Sorry About That

Apparently, my blog was shut down for a few days or weeks because blogger .com thought it was spam for some reason. Now, it is back on line, so don't worry.
I will try to uload the other two videos soon, after I compress them.

Finally Videos!

I burned the videos and the last of the pictures to a CD and took them to a faster computer to upload them. The pictures will be on the next post to keep them easily separated. Make sure you watch the three videos in order, for it will make better sense that way. As for my bad commentary (sorry!! it was taken with a digital camera), I will type the words/general places I mention in each video and also throw in some information that has not been mentioned in the video.
Video 1 (One)

The video goes into the school, the boys restroom, some classrooms, the gymnasium (the dark room), the office, the girls restroom on the left, two doors to outside, the stage on the right, the basement, the furnace room, two restrooms on right.

How old are the elementarys?

Homer and Hartford are the oldest, both being built around 1911 to 1920. Homer, at least, has had an addition since then, around the 1950s or 60s. Alexandria is newer than the other two, hence it being kept. I believe it was built around the 1920s or 30s, and has also since had an addition. I am not sure there has been an addition to Hartford.
Please respond to my poll on this website, and again if I have said this before, feel free to comment.

Homer's Playground

Here are two pictures of Homer's playground. It has three "sections". The first is gravel and contains all the playground equipment. There are two sets of swings, a monkey bars, and a large piece that contains three short slides, a net to climb, a pole, a tunnel, some steps, some purple blocks to climb on, another monkey bars, and a spiral climbing pole. There also used to be a twenty foot or so high slide, but they took it out a few years a go because I believe someone jumped off and broke there arm.
Second is the blacktop which contains two tether ball poles, three four squares and two basketball hoops.
Lastly is the field for soccer, etc.
Sorry about the slow addition of pictures. They take a long time to load as I have previously said, so I add then when I have time.
